So... about Nicaragua....

As most of my friends and family may know, I am going on a mission trip this summer to Granada, Nicaragua on June 21st to July22nd. The group I am going with is Adventures in Missions. They are a a group which conducts short term mission trips for teens and adults to go on. This is going to be such a God-given adventure that I will be going on!
God has been calling me to give all that I am to Him and that as I grow up I am to give all my talents and energy to living for Him and His Will doing what He has enabled me to do for those living in hardships. One of the ways I can do this is by being a missionary, and what better way to see if being a missionary is God's calling then to go on a short term mission trip? This is one of my reasons for going!
The other reason is simply that God calls us to spread the Gospel. On this mission trip, I will be spending a lot of time interacting with people and showing God's love to them. I will be praying with them, playing with the kids, and visiting orphanages. Something that I've been trying to figure out after I signed up for the trip is why do I need to show God's love. Yes, it's mentioned in the Bible why, but in my reasoning, I figure that God can handle that on His own. God's recently brought to my attention that people can't understand His love if they have never experienced any type of love before. They simply cannot understand or fathom it.
Those are the reasons I am going on this new adventure and I am going to a foreign country that speaks with a strange language and has a strange culture.  This is why I am meeting complete strangers with whom I will spend all my time for a month. It is also why I'm letting this consume my weeks as I make preparations to go to Nicaragua.
So, I'm in the ever continuing process of preparing for the trip. Support letters were sent out a couple months ago, prayer cards were sent out recently, I'm pretty up to date on thank you cards, I have the vast majority of my clothes, I have my shoes (which I really needed), I've purchased my plane ticket to training camp, I have an appointment to get my shots (not looking forward to that...), I've met all the people in my mission team on Facebook, and I've learned a bit of Spanish. I've also been immensely blessed by my friends and family who have supported me. In church I am stopped often by people asking about my mission trip and who tell me that they will be praying for me. I've received so much financial support as well.  All are such blessings and encourage me so much! It amazes me how God works through the gifts of His people. God is so wonderful that out of the $3,300 I needed for the trip I only have $550 to go! Praise God!
I am so excited about the mission trip. Everyday I pray about it to God. I pray that God would use me as He wills.

"Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen."
Ephesians 3:20-21
